West Florida Public Library System
Your free library card is your access to the many resources of West Florida Public Library and is good at all locations. Always present your card each time you borrow materials.
Residents of Escambia County, Florida may apply for a card by presenting two forms of identification:
- Photo identification (Florida or out-of-state driver’s license, Florida State photo ID, passport, student ID, work ID, etc.)
- Proof of current Escambia County address (recently postmarked envelope [past 30 days] addressed to applicant, current utility, telephone, cable or tax bill, voter’s registration card, automobile registration, etc.)
Library card applications will not be processed without both forms of identification. In order to obtain a library card, please visit the Circulation Desk located on the first floor of the Main Library or your local branch library.
Nonresidents may apply for the non-resident library card for which a nonrefundable annual $50 fee is charged. Those nonresidents or temporary residents who show that they own property and pay ad valorem taxes in Escambia County are treated as residents and receive free cards. Visitors, with proof of at least a continuous three-week duration, are eligible for a temporary card at no charge.
Active duty military living in Escambia County, Florida are also considered residents. Resident library cards are renewed free when the card is presented at the library. Replacement of a lost card is $3.
Children through age 12 may apply for library cards when they are accompanied by a parent, grandparent, or legal guardian who furnishes the appropriate identification and accepts responsibility for any borrowed materials. Children may then select and check out books themselves, whether or not they are accompanied. Those over age 12 may apply for a card unaccompanied, provided they furnish the appropriate identification.
